Hi Everyone:
On behalf of the new board of trustees, I want to thank all of our supporters who came out to vote at the AGM on April 28. By voting for trustees who believe in the future of the Wasa Lake Land Improvement District and will work together to achieve common goals, you told us that you also believe in the value of the WLLID. This board of five trustees, duly elected from the community since 1969, will continue to serve the community according to its mandate to manage lake water quality and quantity.
These were the final election results:
Laurie Kay 52
Bill Walkley 52
Cliff Youngs 51
Gary Yaskinsky 41
Gary Olafson 40
James Swansburg 37
To our opponents, I say thank you for running in the election. You took the time and effort to do what you believed in, and you made us a stronger and more progressive board. You certainly stirred up a lot of interest in the WLLID; 114 people signed in to the AGM, which we think is likely unprecedented. We want to continue to hear from you so you can help us do a better job for our community.
To the retiring trustees, Naomi Miller and John Nesbitt, thank you for your years of service to the WLLID. It is not easy to be a trustee, and many hours of volunteer time are expected.
Now that the AGM is behind us, let’s focus more attention on the important issues of flood mitigation, water quality, and non-resident representation, to name a few. We will continue to provide regular news through the Buzz, newsletters, and the website.
Cheers, Alex
PS: At the AGM, we asked people to comment on issues such as future goals, community concerns, etc. We will post and respond to your submissions on this blog. Stay tuned!
